About

With over 25 years of experience, I have had the privilege of providing therapy in Wilmington, NC, where I've cultivated a profound passion for connecting with individuals who aspire to embrace life to the fullest. My philosophy centers on the belief that growth and healing thrive within an atmosphere of kindness, compassion, curiosity, and acceptance. Engaging in therapy requires courage, as it entails being vulnerable to sharing our struggles and dreams, as well as openness to learning new coping mechanisms for life's challenges. We all deserve support during times of despair when our self-worth may be questioned. We all encounter moments of upheaval where therapy can serve as a guiding light to help us navigate our needs and discover or rediscover our purpose.

Remember, growth often requires courage and a willingness to embrace the unknown. As my current mantra goes, "be brave enough to stink at something new!" Together, let's embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Shelley’s Office

A significant portion of my practice revolves around addressing anxiety and depression, drawing from evidence-based frameworks such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, and insight-oriented therapy. My services extend to both children and adults.  I offer individual, family, and couples therapy as well as co-parenting sessions.

A unique area of interest for me is working with creatives. Artists of all kinds tend to be deeply feeling individuals, and their work often demands profound vulnerability. Therapy can offer support in navigating rejection, burnout, and creative blocks. It also fosters greater self-awareness and self-compassion, helping artists reconnect with their inner voice.

Outside of the therapy room, I find joy in capturing moments through photography, enjoying our area beaches, and connecting with loved ones locally and during travels to places such as Nova Scotia, where I lived as a child.
